Matches provides conceptual process and cost engineering services to the chemical, energy, manufacturing and metallurgical industries at very competitive rates.  These services help customers evaluate alternatives during the early stages when decisions significantly impact a project's value.  Matches' combination of process and cost evaluation focuses your strategy on the key elements of research, process development design, construction,  operation and remediation.

New Product/Process R&D Study
From laboratory or operating data, Matches prepares process flow diagrams, material and energy balances, selects/sizes equipment and prepares operating instructions for implementation of a pilot plant for either new product or new process development.  Matches also projects the design to various phases of commercial operation.   This typically includes capital and operating costs for several production rates.   This focuses development effort and decisions.

One of the test of developing a new technology is "How does it compare with existing technology?"  Is it simpler, better or lower cost?  Matches compares the complexity, risks, capital and operating costs with existing technology.  This comparison improves decisions by focusing on costly steps and value to the customer.

This type of approach is well suited to solving environmental problem that often have many solutions.   What is the best technology?  Matches' comparative analysis of process, timing and costs analysis allows a better technology selection.   If required, Matches prepares a test program, monitors it and develops final conceptual design.  Select R&D to request a  conceptual design study.

Evaluating Feed (Raw Material) Purchases
Feed cost and quality significantly impact a the economics of operation.  Knowing what to pay for raw materials (Should you make your own?) and determining penalties for impurities is critical to a long term raw material supply agreement.  Matches estimates the manufacturing cost of your raw materials from your suppliers point of view.  The estimate shows the impact of various operating factors on your suppliers costs and give you insight into how inflation factors impact the supplier's costs.  In addition, Matches estimates the impact of feed quality on your operations.  This allows the development of penalties for feed impurities that reflect their impact on your cost.  Knowing these costs focuses the supply decisions on "What is the most cost effective feed material?"  and "How do I get the best value?"  With this information, you can negotiate a better raw material purchase contract.  Select Feed to request a  raw material study.

Process Optimization Study
Change keeps an operating unit efficiency and competitive.  Matches provided technical assistance to optimize process units often as a third party.  Typically, optimization  requires a change that produces an increase in value.   Expenditures on changes can be justified and optimized.  Benchmarking can identify changes that create value.

Better instrumentation, better control, process improvement, improved reactor performance, equipment cleaning, or adjusted process parameters may result in improve raw material utilization, reduced energy consumption, improved product quality, reduce pollution, increase plant throughput, improved ease of operation, improved process reliability, and improved safety.

Optimization requires maximization of the perceived value less the cost of the change.   Optimization studies confirm the cost of change, provide a measure of benefits and justify change.  An optimization study identifies the best changes and keep a producer competitive. Select Optimum to request a optimization study.
