Solvent Engineering

Solvent Engineering provides formulation and sourcing of industrial and institutional chemicals (liquids, pastes and powders) to small manufactures and end-users on a license, work-for-hire or direct purchase basis..

bulletSolvent Engineering formulates industrial and institutional chemical products to your product efficiency, environmental and cost specifications.  Formulations include environmentally friendly attributes such as biodegradability, low VOC, low toxicity and user safety.  Solvent Engineering identifies local sources for purchase of raw materials.  Manufacturers use industrial products on the production floor or assembly line either directly in manufacture (cutting or grinding fluids) or in facility maintenance (cleaners for machinery and floors).  Schools, offices, hotels or restaurants clean, maintain and service their facilities with institutional products.   These products include cleaners, solvents, degreasers, detergents, shampoos, wax strippers, polymer and rubber strippers, oven cleaners, rinse additives, rug and carpet shampoos, window and glass cleaners, hand protective cleaners, skin shields, air fresheners, graffiti removers, floor polishes, cleaners and strippers, hand soaps, miscellaneous hard surface cleaners, drain openers and maintainers.

bulletSolvent Engineering reformulates products to produce the same solubility characteristics while reducing or eliminating unwanted components. Proprietary software calculates the Hansen Solubility Parameters and matches them with alternative components from a database of 500+ components. This software calculates "Xtvity" which is an estimate of the relative versatility of a solvent system to dissolve dissimilar materials.
bulletSolvent Engineering provides third party certification of acceptability for products requiring USDA approval.
bulletSolvent Engineering prepares Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemical products in English, or in Spanish, with an MD translator.  This includes DOT shipping classification, label requirements, and exemptions.
bulletSolvent Engineering offers a number of unique industrial products to manufactures/distributors on a royalty or outright sale basis.  Existing products available for immediate sale or license include:

1.  Liquid laundry detergent that breaks down into plant nutrients.   This formulation is ideal for sale in arid areas where grey water can be used to water golf courses and gardens.

2.  Non-emulsifying cleaners that quickly release oil and grease for easy on site clarification of a facility's wastewater.  This formulation allows wastewater discharge to sewer, rather than disposal as a hazardous waste.

3.  Freezer cleaner useful at -80'F with a flash point of 103'F. This formulation is safer to use and store than isopropanol based cleaners.

4. Environmentally friendly paint stripper.  This formulation has low VOC’s, non-toxic and non-methylene chloride based.

5.  High flash point solvent degreaser.  This formulation is both rinseable with a "quick split" separation of the oils and greases, as well as being a "no residue” wipe on, wipe off cleaner.

6.  Cementacious insulating coating for iron or aluminum effective up to about 1800°F (1000°C).  The user sprays, brushes or dips the coating onto the surface and air-dries it at 100 -150°F to cure.  This non-ceramic coating requires no fusion.   Tests on automotive exhaust systems found over 30% reduction in CO and hydrocarbon emissions due to higher catalytic converter temperature.  Chromed exhaust piping with an internal coating was not discolored by heat.
